The incumbent will participate in building, configuring, and refreshing the SOA infrastructures for development, quality assurance, pre-production, and production based on specifications.

He will develop test strategies, design detailed test plans, develop and execute test cases for testing the configuration for SOA middleware integration infrastructures based on IBM technology. He will capture and analyze test results, carry out problem analysis, and work with senior SOA infrastructure and solution architects towards problem resolution.

Description of specific tasks:

  • Develop configuration scripts for production environments for the following:
    • Creation of service domains in the DataPower appliances following the BIAN classification used to classify IBIT services
    • Configuration of DataPower for integration with LDAP
    • Configuration for integration with Syslog server cluster to capture system and service logs from DataPower, including definition of log targets and format to capture messages from various objects and services on the appliances
    • Test the SOA production domains integrated with the backend production systems, performing sample production dry-runs using a subset of SOA services selected from the NFT environment
  • Plan test cases and prepare test scripts for the following test activities to cover the following:
    • Configured elements listed above
    • Service deployment to the production primary and secondary clusters
    • Service execution operational characteristics node by node within each cluster
    • Intra-cluster fail-over during application execution
    • DR testing by simulating primary cluster failure during application execution
    • Backup and restore capability of the runnable service artifacts and configuration backup files using the internal DataPower storage as backup medium
  • Initialize DataPower appliances, if necessary
  • Verify DataPower operation readiness for each node within each cluster
  • Execute test cases as per above plan


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecyle (SDLC) and environment configuration for each SLDC stage including IDT, SIT, QAT, UAT, and PROD
  • 3+ years of software development experience in Java and Web Services
  • 5+ years of AIX administration and Unix scripting experience
  • 5+ years of WebSphere Application Server and Message Broker administration experience
  • Familiarity with JUnit, Eclipse, WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Integration Developer, MB Explorer, MB Toolkit, Unix scripting
  • Ability to understand software environment test requirements, create Non-PROD and PROD environment test plans, and independently execute the test plans with minimal supervision from the architects
  • Ability to produce detailed documentation for SOA infrastructure construction guidelines and maintenance, within prescribed specifications and with minimal supervision
